People usually hang lanterns in the gardens,outside the houses,and on the boats.These lanterns are signposts to guide guests and spirits of ancestors to the Lunar celebration.After a sumptuous fifteen-day feast,these lanterns light the way for the spirits back to the world beyond.
Silk,paper and plastic lanterns vary in shape and size and are usually multi-colored.Some are in the shapes of butterflies,birds,flowers,and boats.Other are shaped like dragon,fruit and animal symbols of that year.The most popular type of lantern is the "horse-racing" one,in which figures or animals rotate around the vertical axis of the lantern.
The special food for the Lantern Festival is Yuen Sin or Tong Yuen.These are round dumplings made with sticky rice flour.They can be filled and served as a sweet snack or made plain and cooked in a soup with vegetables,meat and dried shrimp.The round shape of the dumpling is a symbol of wholeness,completeness and unity.

The 15-Day Celebration of Chinese New Year
The first day of the Lunar New Year is the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth.Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.
On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs.
The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law.
The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck.
On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.
The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success.
On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.
The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor.

今天早上，我刚起床就听外婆说要包元宵。于是，我急急忙忙地起床凑热闹。我心想：“外婆做的一定很好吃。
开始包了。我看着外婆麻利的手飞快地做着。我忽然觉得做元宵还挺好玩的。所以 心里涌现了一股好奇心，就请求外婆让我也学着做，没想到外婆竟爽快地答应了。
首先外婆发给我一块揉好的面团，然后一边介绍做元宵的步骤，一边做着示范。只见外婆先用手把面团按扁。接着，在扁平的面团的中间放上一勺馅；再把四周的面团捏起来，使馅牢牢地困在里面；最后放在手心，揉成圆球状。一个元宵就做成了。看着圆嘟嘟的元宵，我迫不及待地拿起面团，按照外婆的样子做，要包馅了。我忽然有一个新奇的想法：包多一点馅会不会更好吃呢？于是，我就照着心里的想法去做。结果，元宵似乎吃得太饱了，鼓胀着肚皮被撑破了——露了馅。更可气的就是，我包了好多次，个个都跟我作对似的露了馅。我把脸一沉，气呼呼地坐在沙发上。爸爸走过来，对我说：“生气啦？我跟你说，你要学会面对挫折，那样才对。”后来想了想也是，我不能这样就认输了。结果，我重新回到了厨房和外婆道歉。外婆对我笑了笑，然后又回过头，兴致勃勃地做了起来。我心想：“我一定要成功。”接着，我又鼓起勇气，吸取前面几次的经验，把馅减少了一些，结果成功了。我特别高兴、激动。一气呵成，一连包了十多个。

要做能给我们带来吉祥和好运的迎神接福的兔子灯笼，我和杭州网小记者的其他小记者在前往目的地万科·草庄的路上就格外兴奋。
到了万科·草庄，迎接我们的是满面春风的四位工作人员，他们把我们带到了一个非常宽敞的大厅里，大厅的桌子上已经摆好了做兔子灯笼的材料，我们先看阿姨为我们展示制作兔子灯笼的全过程。然后就轮到我们自己动手了，我们把材料一一从袋子拿出来，有彩色纸、竿子、塑料轮子、胶水、胶带等。首先我们把兔子灯笼的框架搭好，在兔子灯笼的框架下部装上三个小轮子，接着把白纸包在做好的兔子灯笼的框架上，再贴上兔子耳朵，然后我们把剪好的彩色纸当做兔子的毛并一层一层地贴到白纸上，最后用线穿在框架上连起一根竿子，这样就可以提着兔子灯笼了。瞧，一个漂亮的兔子灯笼做好了。我们拿着自己刚做好的兔子灯笼开开心心地在座位上玩起来。有的小朋友，把兔子毛做得又长又鲜艳，有的小朋友把兔子毛剪得又短又细，有的小白兔身上还停着几只小蜻蜓，大家的兔子灯笼都做得别具特色。兔子灯笼在灯光的照耀下，显得格外显眼。大家都沉浸在这快乐之中。
上次元宵节前的做汤圆活动我没能参加感到很遗憾，这次我非常荣幸能够参加杭州网小记者网组织的做兔子灯笼的活动。这次活动带给我不少快乐，今后我会更多地参加这些有意义的活动。也企盼这些兔子灯笼吉祥物为杭州网小记者网带去一年的吉祥如意。
